CCUSD releases new online Board Meeting portal
Agendas for Board of Education meetings will be hosted on Dilligent after years of using BoardDocs
Culver City residents interested in tuning in to Board of Education meetings will be doing so through a new online portal.
The Culver City Unified School District has moved its online Board Meeting hosting to Diligent, a specialized governance and public policy hosting platform. This hosting was previously on Board Docs — a product by Diligent — but was recently migrated over to this new site.
Tonight's meeting agenda was the first posted on the new site, and most of the agendas from meetings hosted on Board Docs over the past decade have been imported onto the new site. The information on the site — including schedules, policy documents, and access to Zoom links for upcoming Board of Education meetings — is mostly the same as what was found on Board Docs with an updated user interface (UI).
Information about CCUSD Board Meetings were posted online through Board Docs for the 2024-25 school year and for at least 10 years before that. The importance of online board meeting information was magnified nationwide during the COVID-19 pandemic due to social distancing.
These virtual meeting capabilities were maintained as these restrictions were lifted, leading to the current hybrid meeting environment seen today. As part of maintaining that environment, documents and agendas associated with Board Meetings are required to be made available for public consumption at least 72 hours before each meeting.
Within each agenda are motions that include associated documents that are presented to the Board for consideration. Many of these documents — including presentations, contracts, and other informational items — are also posted along with these items.
On the new Board Meeting website, parties are able to subscribe to be notified when agendas are posted. Agenda packets will also be available for pick up when they are released at every CCUSD school office and the District Office at 4034 Irving Place — where most of the Board of Education's meetings are held.
Diligent is a widely used software for public and elected boards to share and host information related to their undertakings. It is used by a wide variety of school districts and institutions, ranging from Long Beach City College and the Visalia Unified School District in California to the North Kansas City 74 School District and the County of Renfrew, Ontario outside of the Golden State.
Those who miss meetings will still be able to find videos posted on the CCUSD website. These videos are generally posted within 48 hours of the meeting's conclusion, but there are not specific guidelines or requirements for these videos.
