Dear Culver City Submission Guidelines

Dear Culver City is the Letter to the Editor and Editorial section of Culver Crescent. To submit your Letter or article, email the piece to christian@culvercrescent.com, and it will be considered for publication.

Culver Crescent reserves the right to edit the title, content, or biography included in any Dear Culver City submission, and submissions may be accepted or rejected for any reason at the discretion of Culver Crescent staff. Culver Crescent will not publish submissions following major changes to framing, content, or structure without the permission of the author.

Before submitting an article to be published on Culver Crescent, please be aware of the following guidelines:

  1. Submissions that focus on attacking a person or entity will not be accepted. Dear Culver City is not a venue for personal battles, so please focus and frame articles on concepts, policies, and/or ideas.
  2. Submissions that echo a similar sentiment to a recent submission without adding significant additional context will not be accepted. For those who wish to submit a Letter or editorial supporting a point similar to a previous letter, Culver Crescent staff may instead ask that authors undersign that previously submitted letter instead of publishing their own.
  3. Submissions should be related to a topic relevant in or connected to Culver City. More general pieces that do not present ideas directly applicable to Culver City will not be accepted. Advocating for new ideas or policies to be implemented in Culver City is allowed, even if they are not being publicly supported by other members of the community.
  4. Story titles will begin with "Dear Culver City:" and should not be longer than 7 letters (10 when including Dear Culver City).
  5. Please submit a short biography that you would like to submit alongside the story with information related to your connection to the topic and/or Culver City. This biography will be included immediately following the content, and should be limited to 460 characters or less.
  6. Exceptions to any of the above rules can be considered for publication if it serves a unique benefit to the community. The decision to grant these exceptions is at the discretion of Culver Crescent staff. Individuals interested in publishing articles that may not follow all guidelines can contact Christian at christian@culvercrescent.com to discuss options.
