The main feature of Saturday's celebration was the Drone Show held over the skies of Downtown Culver City, where a group of small drones were arranged into various Independence Day and Culver City-themed displays. Culver City residents and visitors of all shapes and sizes made their way to the Culver Steps on Saturday, July 5 to celebrate Independence Day in Downtown Culver City. During the festivities before the Drone Show, several booths were set up where children and their parents could pick up free pinwheel wind spinners and small American flags. A mother and her child enjoy the open space the Culver Steps has to offer at the Independence Day Celebration held Saturday. Culver City Downtown Business Association Executive Director Darrel Menthe said the event was about celebrating the love that the community shares with each other — demonstrated by the unity residents have shown in the wake of recent harms done to community members. California Assembly Member Isaac Bryan spoke at the Downtown Culver City Independence Day Show. Bryan represents Culver City and other nearby cities in the 55th Assembly District at the state level, and said at the event that the legacy of the United States "is not measured in walls built, but in bridges crossed."
