Longtime community advocate, public safety professional, and civic leader Kimberley Griffin today announced her candidacy for the November 3 Culver City Council race, pledging to bring practical solutions, financial responsibility, and a strong commitment to public safety to City Hall.
A native Angeleno, Griffin has spent 20 years in law enforcement, working to promote programs focused on providing an alternative to incarceration and developing avenues for individuals to avoid the judicial system. She has been at the forefront of tackling difficult issues such as homelessness and human trafficking. Griffin brings to the table a common-sense approach to budgeting and will continue to fight to protect the small-town feel of Culver City.
“As a resident, volunteer, and community advocate, I believe Culver City deserves leadership that listens first, spends wisely, and focuses on delivering results,” Griffin said. “Our city faces important decisions about public safety, infrastructure, housing, and financial sustainability. I am running because I want to ensure every tax dollar is spent responsibly and that City Hall remains focused on the needs and priorities of our residents.”
A lifelong Democrat, Griffin’s record of service includes volunteer leadership with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity Los Angeles, the Culver City Sister City Committee, and numerous civic and community organizations dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods and expanding opportunities for residents. She currently serves as an elected delegate to the California Democratic Party and is a member of several community-focused organizations throughout the region.
“Culver City succeeds when residents know their voices are being heard,” Griffin said. “I am committed to engaging directly with our neighborhoods, listening to concerns, and making decisions based on facts, accountability, and what is best for our community's long-term future.”
A wide array of community leaders and elected officials are already expressing support for Griffin's candidacy.
“I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand how deeply Kim cares about Culver City families,” said CCUSD Board of Education Member Lindsay Carlson. “She is present, engaged, and always looking for ways to make our community stronger. Her support for public education, youth programs, and local organizations reflects her belief that every resident deserves the opportunity to thrive.”
“Kim represents the very best of Culver City,” said Culver City Councilman Dan O’Brien. “She has spent years rolling up her sleeves, showing up for community events, supporting local businesses, volunteering with nonprofit organizations, and working to strengthen the fabric of our city. Kim understands that strong communities are built through collaboration, compassion, and responsible leadership.”
Griffin said her campaign will focus on maintaining safe neighborhoods, ensuring responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, improving transparency and accountability at City Hall, supporting local businesses, and preserving Culver City's quality of life. She added that one of her top priorities is housing affordability so that those who grew up in Culver City and retirees who have called Culver City “home” can afford to live in the city they love.
"Our residents deserve a city government that lives within its means, prioritizes essential services, and plans responsibly for the future," Griffin said. "I will bring a common-sense approach to every decision and work every day to earn the trust of the people I serve."
