Culver CityBus updates mobile app for route tracking
Along with several service changes, Culver CityBus made the switch to the Transit app today, which will allow riders to track bus routes and plan trips

Culver CityBus today announced the introduction of a new Bus app, Transit, that will track service frequency and bus stop times in real time, helping riders plan trips using local bus service. This change is also accompanied by several small adjustments to Culver City bus service, which are expected to boost ridership by 7%.
Transit is a phone application used by more than 180 transit agencies across North America, serving major cities such as Boston, Chicago, Toronto, and Calgary. It will be used for a similar purpose to the original Culver CityBus app, which users complained about for its lack of responsiveness. Riders of Culver CityBus will be able to use this new Transit App to track local buses and routes and plan trips that require transfers across multiple lines.
While Culver City Buses were already equipped to accept transit fares via an L.A. Metro card in digital wallet applications, they are now also able to accept direct credit or debit cards or mobile payment platforms. The app's wide reach also allows Transit users to use it for lines outside Culver City and even to purchase and pay bus fares directly in the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus system.
The app can also be used to help get around the city in ways beyond Culver CityBus. Transit also has features tailored to assist users of other transportation options in planning and navigation and includes integrations with third parties like Bird and Uber to allow people to easily incorporate those apps into their planning.
The most significant change to bus service highlighted in the Culver CityBus press release Monday morning concerned the route connecting Culver City residents to Venice High School. Line 5, which was used by travelers to get to and from Venice High School in the afternoon, will no longer serve that route. The morning Line 2 service to Venice High School will add afternoon service to replace the Line 5 route and create a more consistent experience for riders.
