Culver City Mayor Freddy Puza today officially announced the launch of his 2026 re-election campaign for City Council, committing to continue his work making Culver City more affordable, accountable, and functional for the people who live and work here. Puza’s campaign centers on a clear promise: Culver City values and a stronger future.
“Culver City is at a critical moment. Working families, seniors, renters, and small businesses need a city that actually works for them, one that’s honest about its challenges and committed to solving them,” Puza said. “Affordability isn’t a slogan. It’s whether people can actually stay and build a future here. That’s what this campaign is about.”
Since taking office in 2022, Mayor Puza has delivered on the priorities he ran on. He championed the Affordable Housing Trust Fund, secured small business microgrants and fee relief for local entrepreneurs, and led efforts to advance tenant protections, rental assistance, and a Right to Counsel pilot program, recognizing that preventing displacement requires both financial assistance and access to legal support.
He pushed for budget transparency workshops and public-facing financial reporting, giving residents a clearer picture of how their tax dollars are being spent. He also expanded domestic violence response through the Mobile Crisis Team, established ICE-Free Zones, increased childcare funding, and launched senior resource programming, keeping quality of life and community belonging at the center of his work.
As the city’s first LGBTQ Mayor, his re-election platform builds on that foundation: keep Culver City within reach for working people, make City Hall work better, invest in infrastructure that connects communities, support the local economy and small businesses, and keep the city safe and welcoming for everyone.
“Residents deserve to know where their money is going and what they’re getting in return,” Puza said. “A great city gets the basics right: cleaner streets, better infrastructure, responsive public safety, and a government that solves problems instead of creating confusion.”
Freddy’s re-election campaign has already earned the support of a broad coalition of elected officials and community leaders across Los Angeles, including Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, Supervisor Holly Mitchell, State Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas, Assemblymember Isaac Bryan, and more.
“Everyone deserves to feel like they belong in Culver City,” Puza added. “I’m running to keep this city moving forward with the fiscal responsibility, community investment, and practical leadership our residents expect.”
